Pupils in our school are very excited about spring this year, as the daffodils are starting to bloom between the two yards. We think that they might bloom in or around March or April. When we came back after the Christmas holidays the shoots were not that long but over the past few weeks they have grown a lot. If we keep getting weather like this for a good few weeks we will have lots of daffodils to keep us smiling over spring. You never know what the spring will bring!!!! by Emily Fitzgerald, Rang 6
In November and December, Rang Sé took part in a safe cycling course. We did it every week for four weeks. During the course, we learned how to check if your bicycle is safe to ride and how to turn left and right safely. We learned the importance of wearing bright clothes in order to be visible when cycling. The people who worked with us let us borrow bikes and helmets. We had loads of fun and we learned a lot.
By Leah Rang Sé We went outside to see the pigeon. She was sitting on the eggs in her nest. Her nest was made of twigs. Then we went over to the bird house. We saw seeds in it. There were apples on the trees in the flower bed. By Rang 1. Hi I'm Gráinne and I'm going to tell you about the 4th and 5th class debating competition. It started at half nine in the morning. We all gathered in the Lunchroom to debate. There were eight different motions e.g. Zoos are cruel habitats for animals. There were some really good motions. I thought it would be difficult to argue for the motion 'tv is bad for children' but the girls made very good points. The motion 'school uniform should be banned' was also very interesting. For each motion we had three or four new judge from 6th class. Teams were made up of three pupils and each team was allowed to argue for up to three minutes . Pupils had prepared well and the debates were very interesting. Thank you to Ms. McGarry and Ms. Russell for helping us to prepare. Thank you to the audience for listening so well. We hope to take part in another debate next year. Hi I'm Chloe and I went to a fun, cool, relaxing after school activity, YOGA!
Yoga was so relaxing and enjoyable. We laid down on our yoga mats. Our yoga teacher Mrs. Russell payed some music and we did breathing, stretches and yoga poses. Some were hard and some were easy. It was my first time going to yoga. I enjoyed it so much. I hope more people could come to yoga and enjoy the relaxing time! We all had great fun! Thank you! Chloe Marx Back in December we wrote stories for the Junior and Senior infant classes. We wrote our first draft in our English copies. Mrs. Russell and Mrs. Lambert helped us to edit our work, then we made a book and designed illustrations, a front cover and a blurb. In December, we were ready! We went to the Infant classes and read our stories for them. They really enjoyed listening to our stories and we loved writing stories for them! By Rihanna, Hollie and Ciara 5th class Bulbs go in the ground. Bulbs grow and turn into flowers. Lots of flowers grow from bulbs. In our school we have daffodils, snowdrops, crocuses, hyacinths and tulips. The flowers look lovely.
In November we put bulbs in water. We covered the top of the bulbs with a paper cone to keep them dark. When they started to grow we took off the cones. Our flowers started to grow up to the light. Our flowers were hyacinths. One grew faster than the other. One was a pink hyacinth and the other was a purple hyacinth. We liked our flowers. They were beautiful. Julia and Dora, Rang 2 Piano is my favourite hobby. I practise for 10 to 15 minutes every day. I love going to lessons on Friday evenings. The lessons last for half an hour. There are black notes and white notes. The lines and spaces on the right hand are G B D F A = Granny Buys Dolls For Amy and F A C E ( there is no saying for that one). Left hand lines and spaces are E G B D F = Every Good Boy Deserves Fun and A C E G = All Cows Eat Grass. There are three lower grades and eight higher grades from 1-8. I am now preparing for Grade 2.
I love piano a lot. Gráinne, Rang 5 I decided to donate my hair because my friend has alopecia. My hair will be used to make a
wig. First I went to the hairdressers. The hairdressers was called 'Foxy Locks'. The hairdresser measured my hair. The she washed my hair with special shampoo. After that she started to blowdry my hair. Two people had to blowdry my hair because it was so long. They mesured my hair again, then plaited it and cut it. Finally the hairdresser styled my hair. One of the hairdressers gave me lots of sweets. I went home feeling proud. It was an important day for me. By Eve Corcoran 4th Class. On Tuesday the 17th January, the Little Red Kettle drama group came to our school again. Everyone was excited. We knew it would be a weird and funny show!
The show was about a boy who thought he was weird and how his mum got stressed out about it. There was also a witch who wanted to rule the world and an alien who wanted to tell people that they were in danger. The actors let the audience take part in the show. The boys and girls who where chosen loved putting on costumes and wigs. After coping with lots of strange situations, the boy realised that everyone is weird in their own way! The witch did not manage to rule the world and everyone was happy and grateful at the end! By Alexia T. and Remy, Rang 5 |
