Hi I'm Gráinne and I'm going to tell you about the 4th and 5th class debating competition.
It started at half nine in the morning. We all gathered in the Lunchroom to debate. There were eight different motions e.g. Zoos are cruel habitats for animals. There were some really good motions. I thought it would be difficult to argue for the motion 'tv is bad for children' but the girls made very good points. The motion 'school uniform should be banned' was also very interesting.
For each motion we had three or four new judge from 6th class. Teams were made up of three pupils and each team was allowed to argue for up to three minutes . Pupils had prepared well and the debates were very interesting. Thank you to Ms. McGarry and Ms. Russell for helping us to prepare. Thank you to the audience for listening so well. We hope to take part in another debate next year.
