Parents' Council
The Parent’s Council of the Presentation Primary School is a voluntary group of parents who meet on a regular but informal basis during school term. The primary role of the council is to provide the school with a parent’s perspective on various proposed changes to school policy. Our secondary role is to organise events for the benefit of the children attending the Presentation Primary School, Clonmel. This is considered to be the most important and rewarding function of our group.
Creativity and fun are two of the aspects which are very much to the forefront of the activities organised by the group. Examples of this include our winter story-time, pyjama-wearing and hot chocolate event. Other Parents’ Council events include the annual book fair and the annual free summer event. Weather permitting, the summer events vary from sports evenings to hikes or nature expeditions.
As a rule the Council is not a fundraising group, but we have supported a number of fundraising events over the years e.g. annual sponsored walk in Powerstown Park and the more recent Christmas tree fundraiser since December 2020.
We have also become involved with St. Mary’s Pastoral Council, organising teas, drinks and biscuits for events such as the Communion and Confirmation ceremonies. Another very special event with which we like to get involved, is the Graduation Mass and party held every June for our departing students.
The Parents’ Council Committee is appointed at the annual A.G.M which usually takes place in September/October. Our committee is always open to suggestions and more importantly, volunteers! Remember all parents of pupils in the school are automatically members of the Parents’ Council!
The officers of the present 2021/2022 council are:
Chairperson: Marie Hickey
Secretary: Alison Smith
Treasurer: Claire McCarthy
P.R.O : Aoife O'Driscoll
Other Parent representatives: Ciara Fogarty Compton, Suzanne O'Gorman, Deirdre Morrissey, Carol Kennedy, Barbara Doran, Caroline Smith
