On the 12th of April 2018 we celebrated Multi Cultural Day in our school. On that day every class in the school dressed up in the colours of their countries or their traditional outfits. Parents came into different classes to talk about their cultures. Some parents brought in some delicious foods such as Indian beef cutlets (Paleo) and waldolf salad from America.
3rd class baked French croissants in the lunch room, check out their blog post below to read all about it. Other classes sang songs, played games and learned about different countries and traditions. The Traveller community was celebrated. Children spoke about their cultures and a wooden model wagon was brought around to all the classes which was kindly given to us to look after for the day.
Parents and children were invited to speak about their country and cultures. 6th Class taught 1st Class different games from other countries such as 'Am I right?' (India), 'Bang Bang' (Ireland), 'Edible and Inedible' (Russia)and 'Knock Knock Mr. Wolf' (Spain). Parents and children taught the classes about the geography, history, food, clothes and traditions of their own countries. Some classes did quizzes to see what they had learned.
The highlight of Multi Cultural Day was when the whole school gathered in the yard to have a parade. 6th class girls led the parade with painted flags from all around the world. All the different parents and children followed their country flag and marched around the yard. Music was played from different countries and Ms. Conway announced over 20 countries that are in our school. To find out more please enjoy looking though the photo story attached of all the Multi Cultural Day events.
