What fun the staff had on 3rd April planting an apple tree on the Suir Blueway just under the Convent Bridge. Thank you to Jeanette O'Dwyer for the idea and to Theresia Guschlbauer for bringing the materials and the tree! Thank you to everyone involved for the work and the laughs. The tree is planted beside the trees Rang 6 planted in December as part of Clonmel Applefest. There are a number of sayings about planting trees, but here are two you might like. The one who plants a tree plants hope. and He who plants a tree loves others beside himself (Thomas Fuller). We celebrated World Book Day on Friday March 8th. We dressed up as some of our favourite characters from some of our favourite books and took part in lots of different reading activities throughout the day. Have a look at some of the girls from Rang 4 who put great effort into their costumes! The girls in Rang 4 are taking part in the Junior Achiever programme, being run by Merck Sharp and Dohme. Each week they learn about a different element of running a successful business. Keep an eye out in the future for these budding entrepreneurs! Pupils enjoyed 'Science Week' recently. As well as investigating in the classrooms, classes from 3rd. to 6th were lucky enough to work with scientists and other experts. We learned about caring for our environment, about fun experiments with materials and about our big, beautiful, biased brains! Junior Infants to Second class enjoyed taking part in 'Science Stations' with girls from 6th class. The pupils took part in experiments to do with sound, floating & sinking, light and magnetism. Drama with Tara. Ms. Kennedy's SITara came to visit us for 10 Mondays during the first term. We had so much fun taking part in her drama workshops. We loved getting into character and participating! We are really enjoying school this Autumn. We are learning lots of new and exciting things. Here are just a few photos of the fun activities we did! Wishing our past pupils happiness and success in their new schools. Hope 1st Class and 1st Year bring many exciting days and lots of new friends.
Pupils, parents and staff gathered together for our May Prayer Service in the Infant Yard. We prayed and sang hymns to Mary, Our Mother. Our special guests were the girls who had recently received their First Holy Communion. We said prayers of thanksgiving and prayers for the health of our families, our friends and ourselves. It was a special occasion. |
